Modeled on the explanations of StrengthsFinder® assets available in Now, Discover Your Strengths, the following pages contain explanations of what we believe are perhaps the most common workplace Shadow Strengths®. Please feel free to explore and tap into your natural talents in cynicism, negativity and sarcasm to further develop this new approach to management – the emergent field of “research” in Shadow Strengths®.

IMPULSIVE

You get a charge out of acting before you think. In fact, your motto is: leap before you look. Your best days present no obstacles to unconsidered action. You like to start projects so you can get them done as soon as possible. Visioning, mission statements, strategic planning and the like, are largely a waste of everyone’s time since the best decisions happen in the blink of an eye anyway. For that reason you tend to think Human Resources departments should be dismantled.

Impulsive sounds like this:

Jan P., aircraft engine designer: “After all, if you never start, you’ll never finish, so why not get started yesterday and let tomorrow take care of itself.”

Helena M., Social Studies teacher: “Oh I just jump right in. What’s the point of waiting? Things will work themselves out in the end anyway, and the kids kind of think it’s exciting if I’m learning right along with them…”
